Customer Requests Received

In June 2014, we received an inquiry about creating e-learning materials for "Sexual Harassment Prevention Training" from the Human Science website contact form.

Okinawa Institute of Science & Technology Graduate University (hereinafter referred to as OIST) is a graduate university located in Onna Village, Kunigami District, Okinawa Prefecture, established in 2011. It offers a 5-year integrated doctoral program.
It conducts interdisciplinary research and education in five fields: neuroscience, mathematics and computational science, chemistry and molecular science, environmental and ecological science, and physical science.

We were conducting a group training on "Preventing Sexual Harassment" through classroom learning for faculty and staff, but with the increase in staff, we decided to implement e-learning for efficiency and were looking for a company to create the materials.

More than half of OIST's faculty and staff are foreign nationals.
It was necessary to ensure that the rules regarding "sexual harassment" were well known within the university, as well as to ensure understanding of the legal definitions and regulations within Japan's organizations.

As a requirement for creating teaching materials, we received the following items and proposed the structure and design of e-learning materials.

【Requirements】
・Create content based on the proposal provided by OIST. However, since the proposal is in Word format, it is necessary to plan and create e-learning content that is suitable for it.
・Fully understand the contents of the proposal and propose specific ways to present it (design, layout, behavior, etc.) to OIST.
・Since half of OIST's officers and faculty members are foreigners, the content needs to be available in both Japanese and English.

Points of Proposal

Point01.

Rapid Development

The table of contents for e-learning is structured in the order of "general to detailed" and "easy to difficult" to match the flow of the learner's understanding.
In addition, we have incorporated three classifications of "introduction," "development," and "summary" as an effective lesson structure to support learning. By making these three stages the basic structure of each section, we have specified a smooth progression of learning.

Point02.

Engaging and dynamic content that attracts participants

Instead of just looking at the materials, we suggest a "consciousness check" page to encourage participants to be aware of sexual harassment.

Propose a scene with a sense of presence using photos from the word's materials

Customer Feedback

This time, we had a price/evaluation selection with 5 companies, but ultimately decided to place an order with Human Science Co., Ltd.

・Features such as being able to reference PDFs within the content, making it a well-designed teaching material

・The proposal of using both one-way and two-way methods throughout the material, rather than just one-way.

・The organizational structure and roles of the responsible parties were clearly defined and there was a sense of trust.

・The amount is within the expected range and the delivery date meets the requirements of the specification document.

During the actual production process, there were changes such as an increase in narration that deviated from the initial plan, but they were able to smoothly accommodate them until the end.

Thank you for being able to work together this time.

From Human Science representative

We provided a detailed proposal based on the materials you provided, including specific details about the content, participants, and usage image.

We have made every effort to propose the maximum educational effect through e-learning by converting from group training. In addition, we also considered the visual aspect and designed it with the assumption of a large number of foreign participants.

Since the production began, the voices of OIST representatives and students who have taken other e-learning courses have been reflected, and detailed improvements have been made to the specifications.

This was a carefully crafted production to ensure that there are no misunderstandings regarding the sensitive topic of sexual harassment during education.

When taking photos for case studies, we incorporated local customs such as using kariyushi wear for the performers based on the ideas of the person in charge, and we believe it has become a unique teaching material for OIST.

We hope this teaching material will be helpful for staff education at OIST.
