Customer Requests

In June 2014, we received an inquiry through the Human Science website contact form regarding the creation of e-learning materials for "Sexual Harassment Prevention Training."

Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as OIST) is a graduate university established in 2011, located in Onna Village, Kunigami District, Okinawa Prefecture, offering a 5-year integrated doctoral program.
It conducts interdisciplinary research and education in five major fields: neuroscience, mathematics and computational science, chemistry and molecular science, environmental science and ecology, and physical science.

We were conducting group training on "Sexual Harassment Prevention" in a classroom setting for faculty and staff, but due to the increase in staff, we decided to implement e-learning for efficiency and were looking for a teaching material creation company.

More than half of the faculty and staff at OIST are foreign nationals.
It was necessary to ensure that the regulations regarding "sexual harassment" were well communicated on campus, as well as to help them understand the legal definitions and other related matters pertaining to being part of a Japanese organization.

As part of the requirements for creating educational materials, we have provided the items below and proposed the structure and design of the e-learning materials.

【Requirements】
・Create content based on the draft provided by OIST. However, since the draft is in Word format, appropriate planning and creation are necessary to convert it into e-learning content.
・Fully understand the content of the draft and propose specific presentation methods (design, layout, functionality, etc.) to OIST.
・Since half of OIST's executives and faculty members are foreigners, content is required in both Japanese and English.

Key Points of the Proposal

Point01.

Clear Development

The e-learning table of contents is structured in a way that aligns with the flow of understanding for learners, following the order of "general to detailed" and "easy to difficult."
Additionally, to support learning, we incorporated three effective lesson structures: [Introduction], [Development], and [Conclusion]. By making these three stages the basic structure of the sections, we designed it to facilitate smooth learning progress.

Point02.

Engaging and well-structured content for participants

We propose an "Awareness Check" page that encourages participants' "awareness" about sexual harassment, rather than just "viewing the materials."

Customer Feedback from Clients

This time, we evaluated and selected from five companies, and ultimately, we decided to place the order with Human Science.

・Features that allow referencing PDFs from within the content, showcasing creativity as educational materials

・It was proposed that the materials should not be one-way, but rather include interactive usage throughout.

・The structure and roles of the responsible personnel were clearly indicated, which instilled a sense of trust.

・The amount is within the expected range, and the delivery date meets the requirements of the specifications.

During the actual production process, there were changes from the initial plan, such as an increase in narration, but you handled everything smoothly until the end.

Thank you for the opportunity to work together this time.

From Human Science representatives

Since the proposal was made after receiving detailed materials, I specifically devised and communicated the content, participants, and usage image.

In transitioning from group training to e-learning, we focused on proposals that maximize the educational effectiveness of e-learning. Additionally, considering the premise of having many foreign participants, we emphasized visuals in our design.

Since the production began, the feedback from the OIST representatives and other students who have taken e-learning courses has been reflected, and detailed improvements have been made to the specifications.

Since this is an education on a sensitive topic such as sexual harassment, it was produced with careful checks to avoid any misunderstandings.

During the case study photo shoot, we incorporated local characteristics, such as having the participants wear kariyushi attire based on the ideas of the person in charge, which we believe resulted in a unique teaching material for OIST.

We hope this material will be of assistance in the staff training at OIST.
