    What is ATD Japan Summit?

On November 22nd, the ATD 2016 Japan Summit was held. Many speakers from overseas participated and passionately discussed topics such as education and talent development. This event is tailored for corporate executives, HR personnel, and talent/organizational development professionals.

Japan's position in the field of education cannot be said to be ahead of not only the United States but also other developed and developing countries. Many theories and technologies originate from the United States and are practiced in various countries, eventually being imported to Japan. In this context, the ATD (ATD Japan Summit) presents a significant opportunity to directly learn about cutting-edge theories from the United States and practical examples from around the world.

Human Science Co., Ltd. participated in this event as a sponsor.

ATD (Association for Talent Development) is the world's largest talent development organization with a network of over 70,000 people worldwide. The annual event "ATD ICE" held in the United States attracts over 10,000 participants from around the world. Here, over four days, there will be more than 300 sessions and 400 exhibits.

    Session Overview

[Session Introduction (Global Company Case Studies)]

This time, Emirates NBD, who introduced the group's efforts, has achieved a 5% business impact (2014) and has revolutionized education in just a few years since the start of the e-learning project in 2011. The presentation discussed how they were able to create an organization with a culture of learning through mobile learning and microlearning. From the case studies of two other companies, we could see the reason for their success as a global growth company through their innovative approach to talent development.

    [Session Introduction (Training Effect)]

Only 20% of training, such as workshops, is utilized in the workplace. This is according to Prof. Robert O. Brinkerhoff. It is important for not just the participants, but also their supervisors and workplaces, to engage appropriately before and after the training.
An impressive piece of advice directed towards Japan was, "Training should start with a small group that wants to achieve results; if successful, it will spread to others."

    【Session Introduction (Education from a Neuroscience Perspective)】

Regarding Neuro Science, which considers education and organization from a scientific perspective such as the brain and neurochemicals, Dr. André Vermeulen took the stage. He focuses on global talent development within Neuro Science. His viewpoint is that there are more commonalities in the brain than differences due to "language" and "culture." He passionately introduced the necessity of using Neuro Science to unlock human "learning abilities" and connect them to performance.

    Overview of Exhibition Booth

Exhibition booths were also set up by 16 companies and organizations, offering a wide range of training, e-learning, and consulting services.

Human Science Co., Ltd. exhibited at this event, focusing on "Global e-Learning Development" that was previously introduced on our blog.
We introduced our LMS (Totara), localized materials, and infographic materials, and had valuable exchanges with everyone on various topics, making it a meaningful experience.
