[Tool Usage] What is the usage of iSpring Suite? ~Report on Webinar Hosting~
At Human Science Co., Ltd., starting from fiscal year 2022, we have been co-hosting webinars with iSpring Solutions Inc.. We have been using iSpring products as a user for a long time, and thanks to the attention of iSpring representatives, we have started co-hosting webinars. The webinars have been attended by many customers, and have provided an opportunity to learn about various requests, questions, and concerns.
This time, we will introduce the report on the webinar held and the questions received from the participants.
The webinars that have been conducted so far are as follows:
・Seminar on creating e-learning materials using PowerPoint files
・iSpring Suite Quiz Maker "Tips for Utilization" Seminar [Basic Edition]
Introducing the content in order.
"Seminar on Creating e-Learning Materials Using PowerPoint Files"
- Instructor: Our staff
- Tool used: Zoom
- Lecture for about 40 minutes + Q&A for about 20 minutes
- The instructor explains while showing materials and actual operation screens through screen sharing, in a format that allows for questions and answers.
- Program
- 1) Creation of e-learning materials using PowerPoint files
- 2) Process of Creating Teaching Materials
- 3) Authoring Materials Using iSpring
In this webinar, we introduced the general workflow for creating e-learning materials for those who already have materials or manuscripts created in PowerPoint or other tools.
We recommend using iSpring Suite as one of the tools to use at this time.
iSpring Suite is a tool that can be used as a PowerPoint add-in software. You can use familiar PowerPoint interface to access the functions necessary for creating e-learning materials. From March 2022, the Japanese interface has been implemented, making it even easier to use.

Summarizing the main features of iSpring Suite.
- Create interactive materials that replicate PowerPoint's animation effects.
- Synchronize animation effects with narration and other audio
- Can synthesize narration audio with artificial voice
- You can record the operations performed on the screen in video format.
- You can use materials such as characters and backgrounds with the accompanying tools.
- Can create quizzes and surveys with the accompanying tools
- Can create SCORM-compatible content
Introducing the convenient features for creating e-learning materials, including the SCORM conversion function and the voice synthesis function.
SCORM conversion function
In order to install the created materials into an LMS (Learning Management System), it is necessary to "SCORMize" the materials (creating data that conforms to the SCORM standard and functions as designed on the LMS). In most cases, specialized knowledge is required to SCORMize. However, with iSpring Suite, it is possible to export SCORMized materials simply by selecting a menu.

Text-to-speech synthesis function
iSpring Suite has a feature called "voice synthesis" that allows you to have a narration read by artificial voice.
If you ask a professional narrator for narration, recording and editing of the voice after recording are necessary. Specifically, you need to offer to the narrator, reserve a studio, attend the recording, and have an engineer edit it.
When asking a professional narrator, there are many advantages such as voice quality, speed and rhythm of reading, acting with emotions and characters, but it also requires a considerable amount of time and effort.
With the voice synthesis function, one person can complete the creation of e-learning materials with narration from manuscript creation to completion on their own desk.
In the case of synthesized voice, there are some areas that are not good at such as fine-tuning intonation, reading of special terms, and lines with emotions, but it is attractive that you can easily create narration.
In the end, even if you record a professional narrator's narration, you can also use it to check the content and required time by inserting a temporary narration.
At the end of the webinar, we have a Q&A session. The iSpring team will also be present at the webinar. Therefore, you can also receive direct answers from the iSpring team regarding questions about the specifications of iSpring Suite.
When we held this webinar, we received questions from multiple people about the "Quiz Maker" included in iSpring Suite, such as how to use it and any difficulties encountered while using it.
As we found that multiple customers were seeking information about the Quiz Maker, we came up with the idea of organizing the "iSpring Suite Quiz Maker "Tips for Utilization" Seminar" as a hint for them.

- Program
- 1) What is a Quiz Maker?
- 2) How to Improve Appearance
- 3) Setting Specifications
iSpring Suite Quiz Maker is a tool included in iSpring Suite that allows you to create quizzes by simply selecting options from the menu.
You can also make detailed settings such as passing score and random questions, and you can add even more features using JavaScript.
There are 14 types of questions that can be created, including not only multiple choice questions, but also written questions and questions using images.
In this webinar, we introduced tips for using the quiz maker more effectively for intermediate and advanced users.
There is a reason why we did not target beginners or beginners.
As mentioned earlier, with iSpring Suite, anyone can easily complete their materials by selecting the menu. In addition, it has become even more user-friendly with support for Japanese UI.
Furthermore, in a previous webinar, we found that many users who are already using iSpring Suite still have concerns in practical situations, so we wanted to provide an opportunity to obtain "tips" for using it more effectively.
Webinar Planning Utilizing Practical Experience
At the planning stage, we not only focus on creating content to solve your concerns and questions, but also take into account our experience in the production process.
For example, when we use iSpring Suite Quiz Maker as our production tool, we consider important points to keep in mind during the specification stage, in addition to the quiz content. We also incorporate such content to make webinars more practical.
One of these points is whether to determine pass/fail and how to set the passing criteria.
When creating quizzes, it is natural to set parameters such as pass/fail determination and criteria. However, these settings can also be crucial. With Quiz Maker, you can limit the number of attempts or set it to unlimited. Therefore, when setting the passing criteria, it is important to consider the actions that will be taken if the user fails. If the number of attempts is set to "unlimited" and a passing criteria is set, it is possible to create a quiz where the user cannot finish without passing.
We assembled the content while gathering materials like this.
When creating a sample plan
When creating a sample for viewing during the webinar, we wanted to provide "tips that can be brushed up with a little knowledge and know-how" even for those who are not design professionals.
Therefore, when creating the teaching materials, we carefully incorporate points that are difficult or worrisome, while actually operating and recalling past memories.
The completed sample combines illustration materials and PowerPoint functions to create this design.
In addition, we were able to add technical depth to our samples thanks to the sample content provided by iSpring.
In addition, although this is an English website, we would like to introduce you to the samples posted on iSpring's website, which are full of helpful tips.

During the Q&A session of the webinar, we received a wide range of questions, including scoring methods and creating quizzes in multiple languages.
We were pleased to see active participation not only from iSpring staff and our own staff, but also from attendees who shared their responses with other attendees.
About the Advanced Course
